Dirt floor Crawlspace
Some houses are built with just a dirt floor crawlspace. This provides a less expensive home build initially. The long-term effects are wood rot from moisture, higher energy costs and health problems
Floor is regraded
As much as possible, the floor is regraded so that it is flat. Not all crawlspaces are eligible to get this flat.
Debris is also removed.
it is important to remove any debris such as building materials and organic waste. Sharp building materials like scraps from ductwork can damage the liner and organic waste can grow mold under the liner.
Drainage matting
The drainage matting will protect the liner and the knees of anyone crawling on it, and allow any moisture to be able to circulate.
Terra-block insulation
The Crawlspace floor is not usually very cold even in the winter, but by adding a layer of insulation, it will maintain energy and cut down on condensation.
Coververed and sealed vents
The old way of thinking was to vent the crawlspace to allow air flow and dry it out. What was discovered in the last few decades was this is completely wrong. This will only bring hot air which will condense in the summertime and cold air in the winter. Sealing off any vents is the best way to make a dryer and warmer Crawlspace.
CLenspace liner
This patented liner is 20mil, 7 layer thick. It is fastened and sealed against the walls so it will never come off and moisture cannot penentruate.
Top of the wall
This liner goes all the way to the top of the crawlspace walls.
Clean Storage
One of the benefits is that the homeowner gains clean, dry Storage under their home that they never had before.
