Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: sealed crawlspace in Lincoln, ON

Chris has a home in Lincoln with a portion of his basement is a crawlspace with a dirt floor. Omni Basement Systems installed the Cleanspace encapsulation system to seal off the dirt floor from damaging the building materials and reducing odours. First they installed a drainage matting over the floor and secondly they installed the patented Cleanspace vapour barrier over top. The Cleanspace is sealed and fastened to the wall. it is 7 layer, 20 mil thick. It will never come off from crawling on it.

Before

The customer has added insulation and a 6mil poly to the crawlspace. The foam insulation is good and it will cut down on some moisture from condensation but the 6 mil poly will not last.

Problem with 6 mil

the problem with the poly used is that it will wrinkle when crawling and break down after years. Also it is not secure so when you crawl it will tear and allow moisture to come out.

raking and leveling

After removing the poly, we rake and level the floor.

Drainage matting

The drainage matting will act as a cusion when you crawl around.

Terra block floor insulation

A layer of insulation called, terra Block is installed. this will also cut down on condensation.

Cleanspace wall

Cleanspace is started to be attached to the wall. We are going over top of the foam insulation.

Wall finished.

The wall membrane is fully installed. Next the floor.

Cleanspace floor

The Cleanpsce floor is installed and sealed onto the wall membrane

Button fastener

A button fastener is used to hold the membranes in place. There are cord reinforcements running in three directions to make sure the Cleanspace will never tear.
