Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Sealed wall crack in Burlington, On

Linda found a wall crack in her Burlington home. This crack had been previously repaired using the traditional injection method. This old system will always re-crack and re-leak. Omni Basement Systems sealed the wall crack with their patent Flexispan wall crack repair. The previous repair had to be removed first and then a 4 part repair was installed.

Previously repaired crack

the injection method that is used throughout the industry does not last very long. The material used re-cracks and re-leaks. This has to be removed first.

Dust protection

All methods are used to protect from dust.

Removed repair

the old repair was removed and the crack is now exposed.

Floor opened

the first step of the repair is to open the floor and exspose the gravel bed below.

Bead of flexible sealant

The first line of defense is to install a bead of flexible sealant to the entire crack.

Draiange foam

A 4" wide strip of drainage foam is applied over the sealant just incase any water gets through. The water will drain down into the gravel bed and not into the finished walls.

Flexible sealant over foam

The next line of defense is to add a layer of flexible sealant over top of the drainage foam.

Sealant is troweled

To make sure no amount of water gets through, the sealant is then troweled smooth.

Cleanspace membrane.

A layer of cleanspace liner is added over the entire area and into the gravel and a flashing of draiange membrane is added at the bottom to insure and moisture gets over the footing and into the gravel.
